Since it’s earliest days in 2013, youths have always been at the core of Youth Initiative (YI) driving both its momentum and direction. It is through this approach, that lays the foundation for YI to remain sustainable and relevant to the needs and development of Bhutanese youth as it concerns social issues.
Currently, in its sixth year, YI models this participatory approach through our team of stakeholders (comprising of Advisors, Programme Coordinators and Steering Committee members). The team meets quarterly to deliberate and discuss strengths, challenges and more importantly, development of YI.
However, our team of stakeholders become more than just armchair talkers as they help mentor and guide the next batch of YI members through their journey into awakening socio-political consciousness. The mentors attend the winter and summer sessions to help co-facilitate the camps and take a group under their wing to guide them as they research policies.
