Students Bring Their Stories to the Country’s Leaders: MDC Showcase 2026

11 September 2026 · Thimphu

Months of citizen journalism by our Media and Democracy Clubs came together at the MDC Showcase. In April, more than 300 students from ten clubs in Trongsa, Trashigang and Samtse chose issues from their own communities, from hostel overcrowding and waste management to road safety, digital access, fair pricing and bullying. In May, ten CSOs and three journalist mentors helped them turn their observations into verified evidence and clear calls to action.

At the Showcase, the Hon’ble Deputy Chairperson of the National Council, Members of Parliament, government officials, CSOs, media and development partners visited eleven student-led stations. A day later, BBS broadcast one club’s investigation into bullying.
