Bhutan Democracy Forum 2022
Equitable Prosperity through Inclusive Economic Growth
When: Wednesday, 25 May 2022 Where: RUB convention hall Time: 9:30 AM – 1:00 PM
Keeping in mind His Majesty’s command to prioritise a clear economic roadmap, the Bhutan Democracy Forum brings together an eclectic mix of panellists who will deliberate on the theme “Equitable prosperity through inclusivity”.
Bhutan’s global commitment to “leaving no one behind” and the government’s pledge to “narrowing the gap” supports His Majesty’s vision of a “just and harmonious society.” However, the pandemic has adversely affected the economy affecting all aspects of societal equality and the national debt of the country stands at 134.94% of its GDP in 2022.
Within this backdrop, the Forum, in collaboration with the Royal University of Bhutan, seeks to deliberate on the state of societal equality in the country and how Bhutan fared thus far and how to achieve equitable prosperity post-pandemic.
The Forum, moderated by Dasho Kinley Dorji, Chief Editor of the Druk Journal, provides a platform for citizens to engage with thought leaders, practitioners and academia who will share their views and recommendations as the country tries to revive its economy.
It is hoped that the recommendations from the Forum will prove useful as numerous initiatives are underway in the country.
