BCMD invites applications for the position of Programme Officer (Communications)

Interested candidates fulfilling the following criteria may apply:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in media studies, social science or a relevant field.  
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience (Full-time employment, Part-time employment, Voluntary work, Paid or unpaid internships)
  • Exceptional writing and communication skills. Socially conscious and aware.

    Position Description

    Position title: Programme Officer ( Communications)
    Contract Period : 3 years, extendable based on performance
    Reports to: Executive Director, BCMD
    ___________________________________________________________________________

    I. Main Function
    The Programme Officer (Communication) supports the communication of BCMD to reach international/local partners, government agencies and audiences by producing reports and publications and building engagements in social media and other web-based platforms.
    Under the supervision and directives of the Executive Director and in collaboration with Programme Officers and the chief editor of the Druk Journal, he/she/they supports/implements /coordinates BCMD’s programme development

    II. Duties and responsibilities:

    -Media and Communications
    Communications – BCMD website/ FB and E-newsletter, the CSO website and all external communications – maintenance, updates, and designs.
    Updating/producing BCMD’s various online sites and multimedia needs.
    Design brochures and flyers for the organization
    Marketing BCMD publications
    Assist in Druk Journal production. Communicating with writers, and coordinating with printers (Kuensel or others) for publication of the final copies, with the necessary admin/logistic support provided by BCMD staff.
    Management of BCMD’s publication and communications stock inventory and archival system.
    Handling media relations and media-related activities.
    Assist in any other programme needs

    -Admin/Finance
    Work with other Finance/Admin staff to develop, monitor, evaluate and report on the organization’s annual budget.
    Support the creation and distribution of year-end financial reports
    Provide support as requested for all other Amin/Finance activities.

    -General Services
    Maintain professional links with other organizations and establish new networks.
    Contribute to team learning by coordinating regular office meetings and learning sessions.
    Represent BCMD in any meetings/ planning exercises/ forums involving CSOs, and development partners.


    III. Working relationships:
    Internal: The Programme Officer( Communication) will have to work closely with BCMD staff on a daily basis.
    External: Maintain close interaction with all staff and relevant colleagues of the BCMD network, and with entities associated with BCMD’s work within and outside the Government, including international/local partners.


    IV. Minimum Work Requirements:
    Knowledge: A minimum of a Bechalors degree in media studies, social science or in a relevant field.
    Experience: A minimum of 2 years of work experience ( Full-time employment, Part-time employment, Voluntary work, Paid or unpaid internships). Exceptional writing and communication skills
    Travel: Willingness to travel for official duties



    Skills and Abilities
    -Excellent written and oral English communication skills. Proficiency in Dzongkha and
    other national languages is an added advantage. Communicates clearly and
    concisely orally and in writing.
    – Proficiency in handling media equipment and audio-visual editing softwares.
    – Good understanding of BCMD’s objectives and programme areas. 
    – Strong skills in program and planning, monitoring, and evaluation, and project cycle
    management.
    – Good technical, organizational, interpersonal and teambuilding skills are essential.
    – Team player and respectful of human and cultural diversity.
    – Ability to work under pressure and motivate the team, staff and stakeholders;
    – Identifies and aligns with BCMD’s core values.
    – Socially conscious and aware.
